Action
03:24
|
|||
I
tried to be a good time guy
but I was ill-equipped
Guess I was pussy-whipped
well before my prime
and you tried to give me love
but I didn’t want your love
Not without your action
And you
know that my songs ain’t good
except when times are bad
and all of the fun we had
you never said a word
and now that seems so strange
You wanted my hand
and I wanted your action
I wanted your action
And now…
While the world’s asleep
except you and me
this moment I will take to whisper
softly in your ear
the words that I want to hear
Show me some action
I want your action
Show me some action
I want your action
Show me some action
I want your action
From your daddy too
I’m talkin’ ‘bout action
satisfaction
Pretty words ain’t got no traction
Why don’t you show me the action now
I want your action

Record Store
03:04
|
|||
My town’s still got a record store
You don’t see many of ‘em ‘round no more
I used to be on the radio
Yeah Yeah
Synchronicity
Yeah Yeah
Baby you and me
Every Tuesday night from 6 to 8
we would chaotically congregate
Yeah but the boring haters couldn’t wait
Yeah Yeah
for synchronicity baby
Yeah Yeah
Thinkin’ you and me maybe
Gotta recognize, de-escalate and de-code
“What’s that?”, you ask…
Is my town still a community?
Yeah Yeah
Well maybe hypothetically
I used to be on the radio
yeah yeah
with synchronicity baby
yeah yeah
Thinkin’ you and me maybe
Gotta recognize, de-escalate and de-code this situation
Otherwise might as well kiss goodbye to our radio station
Recognize, de-escalate and de-code this situation
I’m talking ‘bout the truth and the reconciliation
Mandela style
Yeah Yeah
My town has still got a record store
Yeah Yeah
My town has still got a record store
Yeah Yeah
My town has still got a record store
with synchronicity baby
yeah, yeah
thinkin’ you and me…
My town has still got a record store

Dylan & Moses
03:25
|

Dylan & Moses
Moses & Dylan
Who is the hero?
And who is the victim?
Of Mia & Woody
Woody & Mia
You gotta choose Moses or Dylan
That’s right!
It’s either Dylan or Moses
Don’t fight
You can look ‘em up all you like
and make up your own prognosis
‘bout Woody & Mia
Mia & Woody
And then we…
cry out collectively,
“What about Soon-Yi?”
She’s married happily
(as can be)
while Sinatra’s baby’s on network TV
Some twisted sequel to that film by Polanski
shot in the Dakota
in 1968
They wanted it all
but they just had to wait
for Dylan & Moses
for Moses & Dylan
for Ronin & Soon-Yi
for Soon-Yi & Ronan
and
Woody & Mia
Mia & Woody
Dylan & Moses & Ronin & Soon-Yi and Woody and Mia and all of the rest
Dylan & Moses
Ronin & Soon-Yi
Dylan & Moses & Ronin & Soon-Yi & Woody & Mia and…
Dylan & Moses
Moses & Dylan
Dylan & Moses & Ronin & Soon-Yi and Woody & Mia and…

Magnet For Trouble
03:54
|

Worried mind
Last time I was in this place things got way outta hand
Nearly got punched in the face and I pissed off the whole damned band
Ain’t the first time this has happened to me
Get to know me and then you’ll see
That’s how I am
I ain’t lookin’ for trouble
but that’s all I find
When you’re a magnet for trouble
you know you live on the bubble
You get a worried mind
Got a worried mind!
No matter who is to blame I know it’s prob’ly my fault
but I don’t stress out with shame or worry ‘bout gettin’ caught
If that offends you ain’t much I can do
Just got to be me and let you be you
That’s how I am…
I ain’t a-lookin’ for trouble
but that’s all I find
When you’re a magnet for trouble
you know your home’s made of rubble
You get a worried mind
And a worried mind makes a worried mind makes a worried mind makes a worried mind
My buddy called distraught at the thought of blocking someone
He told me it was his first and I said,
“That’s adorable son”
Then I whipped out my long blocked list
He laughed
He couldn’t resist
That’s how I am
I ain’t lookin’ for trouble
but that’s all I find
When you’re a magnet for trouble
you know you could use a double
You get a worried mind
And a worried mind makes a worried mind makes a worried mind makes a worried mind…

Own Your Lips
03:16
|
|||
You called on Kali
Kali called you back
but you wouldn’t pick up the phone
You called on Kali
Kali called you back
but you pretended like you weren’t even home
Oooo
You got to own your lips, girl
Oooo
What you say
Now you’re the victim
and I’m the bad man
and you got control
I ain’t no victim
and you’re no bad man, girl
You’re just a filling your hole
Oooo
You got to own your lips, girl
Oooo
What you say
Oooo
You got to own your lips, girl
Oooo
What you say-hey-hey…Reality
Hey, Hey, Hey…That’s your reality
Hey, Hey, Hey…Ain’t no reality muffin

She was always in that monster truck going somewhere
Sparkin’ up a joint yeah
and I wanted her to be my girlfriend
Oh, I wanted her to be my girlfriend
but she hated everyone in this town because they put her down
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said it
Everybody said it
But we were drinkin’ beer by the fire making out on her tailgate
Crankin’ up the tunes yeah
and I didn’t wanna start a big fight
No I didn’t want to start a big fight
but I could see it in her eyes she’d be leaving by tomorrow night
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said she was trash
Everybody said it
Everybody said it

There’s a comedian in this town
who gets mad if you call him a clown
even though clown’s just a synonym for his profession
So, let’s just call him Sam
the big comedian
with absolutely no sense of humor about the word clown
Well he chased me down the street outside of Obsidian
Shoutin’ and threatenin’
Man, he wasn’t kiddin’
and if it happened to you
you’d believe that it was true
but since it happened to me
you probably think it didn’t
Well I did this guy the grave injustice
of inviting him to do my show
It didn’t go as well as he’d hoped
and he blamed me for the whole situation
in an angry after-show text
that led me to mutter under my breath
“Aw…I made the clown cry”
That’s why he chased me down the street outside of Obsidian that night
Shoutin’ and threatenin’
Man, he wasn’t kiddin’
He was lookin’ for a fight sayin’…
“You called me a clown
You called me a clown
Admit it you called me a clown”
That’s what he shouted as he ran me down
Ain’t that hilarious?
Come on, Sam!
That’s fuckin’ hilarious, man!
There’s a comedian in this town
who flips out if you call him a clown
He's got absolutely no sense of humor about the word clown
So if you see him clownin’ around
don’t make the mistake of callin’ him a clown
even under yer breath when he’s not around
He might chase you down the street outside of Obsidian
That’s right!
Shoutin and threatenin’
Man, he won’t be kiddin’
He'll be lookin’ for a fight
and when it happens to you
I’ll believe that it’s true
‘Cause it happened to me…

Olympia's Secret
03:16
|
|||
If you knew Olympia’s secret
do you think that you could keep it?
And if you knew Olympia’s secret
everything might change…
Because back when both her legs were sturdy
she never thought of herself as dirty
but now she’s only thirty two
and she’s so scared of you
and what you might do
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
If you knew – Olympia’s Secret
If you knew – Olympia’s Secret
Olympia!!!
Because if she was a famous stripper
She’d never get the same props as a dead rock singer
And if you knew Olympia’s secret
you might call her names
God, it would be so strange
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
If you knew – Olympia’s Secret
If you knew – Olympia’s Secret
If…she knew…that I was in town
Well, it would probably bring her down
Bring her down
but if she knew
that I’d passed right through
without even dropping in
her head would spin
Let’s go for a spin
Olympia…
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
Everything might change
God it would be so strange
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
If you knew – Olympia’s secret
Olympia

Knew You
05:19
|
|||
I thought I saw you hangin’ on the scene
standin’ on the corner talkin’ mean
I thought I saw ya hangin’ ‘round downtown
with yer hands in yer pockets and yer head slung down
lookin’ like a mutant Steve McQueen
But I could be wrong
I could be mistaken
and maybe that wasn’t you
Hangin’ ‘round with your new crew
Yeah, you look so bad
but you got nothin’ better to do
I thought I knew you
I thought I saw you lurking in the eyes
of the kind of guys that we had once despised
I thought I saw you look away
I thought I saw you fade to grey
I thought I saw the crack in disguise
But I could be wrong
I could be mistaken
and maybe that wasn’t me
Seein’ things I didn’t see
Yeah, you look so bad
but you got nothin’ better to be
I thought I knew you
Yer head is blowing up
like it’s a big balloon
I hate to interrupt
yer masquerade but soon
it's going to erupt
and it’ll just go…
boom
I thought I saw you hangin’ on the scene
with the seventh son of Martin Sheen
I thought I saw you bein’ cool
I thought I saw you bein’ cruel
I thought I saw the line blur in between but…
I could be wrong
I could be mistaken
and maybe that wasn’t you
hangin’ ‘round with yer new crew yeah
you look so bad
but you got
you got nothin’ better to do…
I thought I knew you…
…but I never knew you

Get Outta My Head
03:04
|
|||
Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
That thing that you said just tore me apart
I thought I could take it and maybe I can
but when I run out of juice and I don’t have a plan I
made up this mantra
to get back on track
I don’t think you’ll like it
Oh no I know you won’t like it
So get outta my head
Get outta my heart
Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
Get outta my head
Get outta my heart
I meant what I said from the end to the start
You taught me so much
and now that I know
I don’t think I like it
Oh no I know I don’t like it
So get out of my head
get out of my heart
get out of my head
get out of my heart
Get out of my head
Get out of my heart
Get outta my head and my heart and heart and my head and my
Get outta my
Get outta my
Get outta my head and my heart and heart and my head and my…
Outta my head
Get outta my heart
Get outta my head
Oh yeah get outta my heart

It's a pretty cool chord
to build a world around
Each note its own reward
Fast forward or rewound
And when you’re trapped and feeling bored
and no one is around
Your solitude assured you pour
some verb into your noun
and all to soon
the song is done
and that’s no fun
‘cause it’s a really cool chord
to build your day around
Oh yeah
It's all you can afford
but that don’t get you down
and the fact is you’ve adored
this chance to shut it all down
Don’t know what you’re heading toward as you
sink into the sound
and all too young
the song is done
and that’s no fun
Naw it ain’t no fun
Naw it ain’t no fun
Might as well
make it wonderful

Well I’m sorry kid
Forgive me for the things I never did
You know that I love you true
so I say, “Thank you
for everything you do
be it false or true”
And I’m sorry girl
Forgive me for the thoughts I hurl
You know that I love you true
so I say, “Thank you
for everything you are
be it near or far”
And I’m sorry man
Forgive me for what I am
You know that I love you true
so I say, “Thank you
for everything you’ve done
whether ya lost or won”
Well, I’m sorry folks
Forgive me for my bad jokes
You know that I love you true
so I say, “Thank you
I’m sorry
Forgive me
I love you
Thank
you
